Description of Duties

Legal Research. This aspect includes, but is not limited to, the following:

  • conducting background checks on case witnesses – gathering information to build a background on a case
  • compiling relevant statutes to help build a case
  • obtaining records about court decisions about a case
  • researching other legal articles around a case

Drafting Documents. Specifically legal documents, Paralegals are tasked to prepare one or more of the following:

  • Mortgage documents – Separation agreements – Trust agreements – Sale agreements
  • Real estate documents
  • Other documents like contracts and agreements

Case Preparation. Paralegals play a crucial role when it comes to preparing Lawyers on a case as seen on the following:

  • Legal arguments preparation
  • Opening and closing statements preparation
  • Court pleadings or motions preparation
